Some of the most majestic and visited places in the city are the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Oratory of St. Joseph. Every year, the Oratory is visited by up to two million believers and tourists. Mother Teresa, Pope John Paul II and the Dalai Lama have been here at different times.

The oratory of St. Joseph today is a place of Catholic pilgrimage. It is believed that numerous healings of the disabled take place here. There is a wall in the temple, to which numerous crutches are attached, as a sign of healing.
